Get a Taste of the Wild, Wild West
Williams is a small, vibrant mountain community founded in the
late 1800s. The town’s name comes from the legendary trapper
and mountain man, “Old Bill” Williams.
The colorful past comes alive in William’s historic district,
with streets lined with saloons, bordellos and shops. In the summer
months, Williams turns into a wild western town of bygone days.
You can experience how the west once was, with cowboys and gun-toting
buckskinners roaming our streets.
Take a Vintage Train Ride
If a little bit of century-old history strikes your fancy, visit
the Historic Grand Canyon Railway. The famous vintage steam engine
heads for the south rim of the Grand Canyon each morning year-round.
The excitement begins at the 1908 Williams Depot, where you can
enjoy a free railroad museum, a quality gift shop, and the action
of a Wild West shoot-out.
Feed a Deer
The Grand Canyon Deer Farm is just minutes away and houses a great
array of beautiful animals. You can walk among them and let them
eat right out of your hand!
Explore the Depths
Another national wonder, the Grand Canyon Caverns bring visitors
in throughout the year. Its limestone caverns reach 21 stories beneath
the earth's surface and bear thousands of hidden treasures.
Experience Nature’s Palette
To the east of Williams, experience the grandeur of the Painted
Desert and Petrified Forest. It will seem as though you stepped
right into a watercolor masterpiece, with rocks and petrified wood
as colorful as the artist's palette.
Behold the Beauty of the Red Rocks
Mystical, magical Sedona holds more beauty than the eye can behold
with its magnificent red rocks. Enjoy panoramic scenery in Oak Creek
Canyon, one of the most beautiful drives in America and home of
Slide Rock State Park.
