Take a Personalized Grand Canyon Tour!

The BEST WESTERN PLUS Inn of Williams is the perfect location
for your Grand Canyon Vacation

Grand Canyon National Park is only an hour’s drive from the BEST WESTERN PLUS Inn of Williams. It’s a fantastic day-trip that will give you all day to tour the National Park visitor center and the south rim of the Grand Canyon from the many scenic overlooks accessible by car and along walking trails.  The south rim is the most visited vantage point for Grand Canyon visitors. You will find the historic El Tovar Lodge (a favorite dining experience for many visitors) and there are gift shops featuring authentic Indian art, jewelry, pottery and a myriad of souvenirs for those back home that did not make the trip. And of course, to see the Canyon is the experience of a lifetime.

Mother Nature took millions of years to carve the 277 mile long Grand Canyon by eroding the colorful rock formations with wind, rain, and help from the still winding Colorado River that lies more than a mile below from the top of the South Rim.  The North Rim lies just ten miles away but is a several hour journey by car. The South Rim is the most visited vantage point and the historic El Tovar Lodge is a favorite dining experience for most visitors, and there are gift shops featuring authentic Indian art, jewelry, pottery and a myriad of souvenirs for those back home that did not make the trip.

If you are driving, the trip along the East Rim offers several vantage points that are preferred by many photographers for capturing the majesty of the Grand Canyon but each visitor to the Grand Canyon has their own indescribable experience and many watch silently as the Arizona sun playfully baths the stunningly colorful rock formations in an ever changing display of Mother Nature’s splendor in the desert.

If you like adventure, you may choose to hike the canyon or, if you made reservations a year in advance, take a mule ride down the canyon wall to the Colorado River.  There are River Raft excursions and Helicopter Tours and the newest man-made attraction, The Grand Canyon Skywalk Glass Bridge is definitely a must see, just two hours from the South Rim…..Don’t forget the camera!

One of the Seven Wonders of the World: Grand Canyon National Park

The greatest of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World is the Grand Canyon in northwest Arizona. The Grand Canyon is a very colorful, very deep, and very steep gorge carved out by the Colorado River. The length of the canyon is best measured in river miles. Beginning at Lees Ferry and ending at the Grand Wash Cliffs, the length is 277 miles. The width of the canyon varies from one quarter of a mile to fifteen miles wide. Maximum depth is one mile. Granted Federal protection in 1893 as a Forest Reserve, the Grand Canyon became a National Monument, and achieved National Park status in 1919 becoming the Grand Canyon National Park.
